Ingredients
  • 2 Tbsp cumin
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 1 10.75-oz can tomato puree
  • 1 Tbsp cider vinegar
  • 1 15-oz can black beans, drained
  • 1 4-oz can diced green chilies
  • 1 Tbsp salsa verde
  • 1 Tbsp diced jalapeno
  • Shredded cheddar or pepperjack for topping
  • Jalapeno rings for topping
  • 6 hamburger buns
Instructions
  1. In a small bowl, combine cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and brown sugar. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet coated with cooking spray, saute ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain grease and add onion. Continue to cook until onion is translucent.
  3. Add flour to mixture and combine. Stir in tomato puree, cider vinegar, black beans, green chilies, salsa verde, diced jalapeno, and cumin mixture. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer beef mixture for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat. Top each bun with beef mixture, cheese, and jalapeno rings.
