In a large bowl, combine the bread crumbs, ground beef, egg, garlic, and salt and pepper (I just used my hands). Form into 4 even patties.
In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch and cold water. In another bowl, combine the onion soup mix and beef broth. Add cornstarch mixture and stir well to combine. Set aside.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat canola oil. Add burgers and cook the burgers 2 minutes per side or until browned. Remove from pan.
Add mushrooms and onion to pan and saute until mushrooms are browned. Add cornstarch/beef broth mixture and bring to a boil, stirring constantly until slightly thickened.
Add burgers back to pan and cook, stirring occasionally, until burgers are done, about 6 minutes. Divide burgers onto four plates. Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or veggies. Drizzle with gravy. Enjoy!
